What is media considered for me?

What is media? In very short terms, media is a way of communication. This communication shares information about specific topics. Media has many ways to present itself to people and can be interpreted differently between each person. Now, a fascinating thing about media is that there are also multiple ways of being distributed. Nowadays we have this entire "web" of information that can be found at a simple click of a button. We have analog methods of distribution such as newspapers magazines and through television. Now that we have a method of distributing our media across the globe, information is can be found by anyone. Very much like this blog post, I can submit it to my page and although it is of Australian origin, people from all over the globe have access to it by just simply entering the URL into their bar or searching it on google (or bing if you're not mainstream). It is merely impossible to go through your whole life without coming into contact with a form of media.

So what is media for me? How has it impacted my life? Media has been with me since a very young age. The form that it has taken though, to some, may not be seen to others as a form of media. What I'm talking about is games. Games are, at its core, a source of information. You literally cannot make a game without information. A game is made from a couple different types of information though, the one which it is provided to run and the one which it provides to the player. Whether the developers choose to direct this information implicitly or explicitly is completely up to them. Now how have these things changed my life? As I mentioned before, they have been with me from a young age. I have played games my entire life, starting from a Nintendo 64. Ever since then I have been in contact with this form of media.

As games are my primary source of media, I do have other forms I enjoy. Music has been one form that has always been attached to me. I cannot go a day without listening to it or even playing songs in my head. Music has strong connections between it and people. They can tell a story, change your mood or even plain and simply make a sick beat. My most preferred interest in genre, is dubstep (or anything alike). Although this type of music never really has lyrics, it is a form of media that can speak to you without words. It can create a fantasy in your mind based on how you may perceive it.
A song without lyrics can even be seen as a "Write your own Adventure" book, it goes how you want and how you imagine it to work.

My final form of media, is film. Although films have not been a big interest in my life, there is one file series I have come to love, Star Wars. As nerdy as it sounds, Star Wars has been a big part of my life and has gone further than some people may see films. Ever since I have laid eyes on star wars, my interest in space and alien life has skyrocketed. I have a fair collection of Star Wars collectibles throughout my room including apparel. Going off of what I said earlier though, from seeing star wars it has massively increased my interest for space. So in saying, a single film series has impacted my life exponentially. If it we're not for Star Wars my interest in space and space related things wouldn't have been apart of my life now.

In the recent time, I have been watching videos on anything and everything to do with space. Whether it be the laws of which it follows (or does not follow) or be it new planets found that are habitable. I am absolutely obsessed with space to the point it can be called an addiction. Not a day goes by where I haven't watched a video or read an article about space. My eye is always attracted when an article pops up in my FaceBook feed or a video in my youtube subscriptions that just mention the word of space or anything related.

So what is media may you still ask? It is an art form, a way of communicating, media is information that anyone can see and be influenced by in many ways depending on how they perceive what is displayed to them.
