Horrors of MineCraft

What is MineCraft? If you haven't been living under a rock, you would know about the huge success from the game. The game is a very peaceful sandbox, with exploration of worlds and creation as its core gameplay aspects. You can build a world of your own, creating your own community, a mansion, or even invent a new invention using a circuit component called redstone. These are just to name a few of the things that you can do in the world, the idea of customisation has skyrocketed in this game with anything and everything in it being able to be manipulated by the player.

A game like this honestly sounds like something that couldn't possibly contain an ounce of horror, but it may not be obvious, these horrors are produced implicitly. Our horrific experiences are caused be the elongated demons famously known as, "Creepers". We have all had an encounter with at least one of these if you've played the game. They will sneak up to you when they can, and explode, leaving your screen littered with smoke particles, to see what you have been working on destroyed. There is nothing more horrific than seeing hours, days, months or even longer go in just seconds. But before this event, you will be taunted with a small hiss shortly before the event occurs.

Not only can in-game entities destroy your work, but if you've invited friends to play or joined a server, there is a name for this kind of entity, one of which any player will quiver to when the name is said aloud, the purest form of horror, irritation and anger comes from "griefers". They are players who purposely trek around worlds destroying anything and everything in their way to make themselves more content. Imagine your creation was fine, or even survived the wrath of a creeper, was completely demolished by lava, water, explosives and/or other blocks. Not only would you rage quit the game, but you would probably uninstall minecraft and get a refund.

Besides the horrors that come from the complete and utter destruction of everything you know and possibly love, there comes other horrors, this may not affect all but it may affect some players on their adventures. If you have ever walked through a cave, which everyone who's played should have, you will most likely have heard the eerie sounds of a train or what sounds like a wind passing through a long empty hallway. If in a dimly lit or even dark cave, this can be frightening to some, especially if they believe that herobrine is in the game. Herobrine is a version of the player character Steve, but with solid white eyes. It has been said he builds and destroys, digging long 2x2 tunnels, has built pyramids in the ocean and leaving trees without leaves. With all the creepypasta of Herobrine, there is no doubt that some people playing may fear the horroric ability of him.

With everything aside, the only way to stay safe is to build gigantic walls and keep as many cats as the crazy cat lady.
